Hablemos de arte con… Angeline Elena Valverde Ureña (Costa Rica)
1 ¿Qué te llevó a las artes?
Vengo de una familia con habilidades artísticas, músicos,
pintores y artesanos, comencé a dibujar
y pintar desde los 4 años, el arte era mi obsesión, podría decir que inicié
corrigiendo los dibujos de mi maestra de primaria, tiempo después, fui yo quien hizo las ilustraciones en la pizarra;
mis compañeros de clase pagaban por mis dibujos de animales, en el sexto
grado me solicitaban que creara diseños
para tatuajes. Al llegar a la
secundaria, fue mi profesor de Artes
Plásticas quien me motivó, invitándome a
festivales de arte, despertó mi pasión por aprender e investigar técnicas para
el dibujo. Me conversó sobre el dibujo anatómico humano, todo lo que consistía
dibujar cada músculo, hueso, venas o arterias del cuerpo, al terminar mi
secundaria por error decidí estudiar Enseñanza de ingles. Mis compañeros en algún momento descubren mi talento para
las artes y me comentaron “estas en el lugar equivocado” , después de algún
tiempo logré ingresar en el Instituto Nacional de Aprendizaje (INA), el cual es
uno de los Institutos más importantes de Costa Rica.
Complete estudios en:
Tecn. Acuarela, Tinta China, (aguada, japonesa), Tecn.Pintura
Artística, Tecn. Dibujo Artístico, Tecn. Retrato especializado y por último
Inglés conversacional, lo cual me ha sido de gran utilidad en exposiciones y
eventos internacionales y en la comunicación con artistas extranjeros.
2 ¿Cuale son tus principales intereses en el
ámbito artístico?
Siempre he estado enfocada no solo en mostrar mi obra
pictórica, sino conformar un triangulo artístico (mi obra, el observador y yo),
siendo cada uno complemento del otro. Deseo ser reconocida como una pintora
amante del buen arte y de la vida. Despertar
emociones o recuerdos en cada
espectador. Espero también seguir recibiendo propuestas para exponer
fuera de Costa Rica.
3 ¿Consideras que el
arte puede impulsar transformaciones?
Claro lo he vivido en forma personal, pintar me da paz, es una
conexión conmigo misma, también pude observar los cambios en un compañero
artista con problemas socio-afectivos,
mejoras en su estado de depresión y ansiedad, como una alternativa terapéutica
(quien realiza arte puede gozar de una buena salud metal). En mis estudiantes
de pequeña edad he podido observar grandes cambios, los niños pueden aprender a
trabajar en equipo, mejoras en las habilidades motoras fina, paciencia,
tolerancia y libertad de expresión.
4 ¿Cuál cree Ud. es el
rol del artista hoy frente a la sociedad?
El artista siempre debe saber que desea proyectar, desde lo
positivo o negativo, porque cada vez
que un espectador se coloca frente a su obra, debe captar el mensaje, la
emoción eso que lo invite a hacer un cambio en sí mismo y en la sociedad, generar un proceso
de reflexión ante un mundo lleno de problemas. La muestra de la belleza donde no hay ninguna como
objetivo principal.
5 ¿Su obra es el
resultado de una inspiración o la respuesta a un hecho de protesta?
Mis obras son espontaneas, según la condición emocional que
me encuentre, algunas veces espontaneas y
otras veces protesta, pero apegadas a la realidad social, me gusta mucho
enfocar cosas positivas vivencias propias, sitios propios de mi país, cultura
aborigen, es mi identidad; aunque debo reconocer que también suelo realizar
trabajos por encargo, los cuales en la mayoría de los casos son de valor
sentimental para mis clientes, como paisajes, retratos, fotografías antiguas
entre otros.

Let's talk about art with... Angeline Elena Valverde Ureña (Costa Rica)
1 What led you to the arts?
I come from a family with artistic skills, musicians,
painters and artisans, I started to draw and paint since I was 4 years old, art
was my obsession, I could say that I started correcting the drawings of my
elementary school teacher, time later, it was me who made the illustrations on
the blackboard; my classmates paid me for my drawings of animals, in the sixth
grade they asked me to create designs for tattoos. When I got to high school,
it was my Plastic Arts teacher who motivated me, inviting me to art festivals,
and aroused my passion for learning and researching techniques for drawing. He
talked to me about the human anatomical drawing, everything that consisted in
drawing each muscle, bone, veins or arteries of the body, when finishing my
high school by mistake I decided to study English Teaching, my colleagues at
some point discovered my talent for the arts and told me "You are in the
wrong place", After some time I managed to enter the National Learning
Institute (INA), which is one of the most important Institutes in Costa Rica.
Complete studies in:
Tecn. Watercolor, Chinese Ink, (aguada, Japanese),
Tecn.Pintura Artística, Tecn. Artistic Drawing, Tecn. Specialized portrait and
finally conversational English, which has been very useful in international
exhibitions and events and in communication with foreign artists.
2 What are your main
interests in the artistic field?
I have always been focused not only on showing my pictorial
work, but also on forming an artistic triangle (my work, the observer and me),
each complementing the other. I want to be recognized as a painter lover of
good art and life. Awaken emotions or memories in each viewer. I also hope to continue
receiving proposals to exhibit outside of Costa Rica.
3 Do you consider that art can drive transformations?
Of course I lived it in a personal way, painting gives me
peace, it is a connection with myself, I could also observe the changes in a
fellow artist with social-affective problems, improvements in his depression
and anxiety state, as a therapeutic alternative (who performs art can enjoy
good metal health). In my students of small age I have been able to observe
great changes, children can learn to work in teams, improvements in fine motor
skills, patience, tolerance and freedom of expression
4 What do you think is
the artist's role today in front of society?
The artist must always know that he wants to project, from
the positive or negative, because every time a spectator is placed in front of
his work, he must grasp the message, the emotion that invites him to make a
change in himself and in society, generate a process of reflection before a
world full of problems the sample of beauty where there is none as the main
purpose.
5 Is your work the
result of an inspiration or response to a protest event?
My works are spontaneous, depending on the emotional
condition I am in, sometimes spontaneous and sometimes protest, but attached to
the social reality, I like to focus on positive things, my own experiences, my
own country sites, aboriginal culture, it is my identity; although I must admit
that I also usually do commissioned work, which in most cases is of sentimental
value to my clients, such as landscapes, portraits, old photographs among
others.
